I am back on Morale-O-Meter. Today, I argued that Canada was a multicultural country and that traditionally, marriages were legally binding contracts entered into for financial reasons, propped up by many children and not the nuclear family that people of a certain political leaning have labeled traditional.

I was called a drugged up Vancouver bum. It was a good day. I am British and really don’t have strong opinions on either issue.

I finally received the end date for my redundancy. As of 30 June 2007, I will be officially unemployed and potential unemployable…we wait and see…

Here’s my thank you speech…

“Oh, my God. I know that to breathe is very expensive tonight, but I have to breathe. Well, first of all, thank you to the members of the Academy, for their generosity. This is, I mean, I don’t know, this is really too much.

And I would like to read something that is prohibited, but will be very short. You know, of course I dedicate this to El Deseo, to Sony Pictures Classic and all the people that helped me to make this movie.

But I also want to dedicate this award to all the people that are raising their voices in favour of peace, respect of human rights, democracy and international legality. All of which are essential qualities to live.

This award is also to them and to Spanish cinema and to all of you, because you are the witness of this wonderful moment of my life. Time’s up. I’m sorry.”

Walks, photos, job hunting then a bottle of red wine. I figure a bottle of red wine is four glasses. Unless that alcoholic drinks means different types and not how many drinks…Maybe I’ll change it to one on that basis.

Still no job for me. Thinking about moving to New Zealand after my brother’s wedding.

I was supposed to go for a walk with a friend, but I had the worst sore throat today. Strangely enough, despite the illness, I managed to finish the day with two beers!
