Work was challenging and unproductive. Went out to meet some ladies from the Spannochs trip. I like them. But they were all pronouncing “Serious Relationships” with Capital Letters and talking about “instinct” crap, and then one of them was like “i might as well tell you, i’m pregnant” and they whoo-ed and i thought “i might as well tell you, i’m an alien. i don’t belong here.” just happened to be reading the Dialectic of Sex while waiting for them to show up.

Pretty good morning, though it led to being late for work. Paul appeared to help me keep my resolve to go out, and the Polish hall was lovely in its half-dismantledness. Dancing is a thing that makes me feel good. P & J & i had ice cream at Pix.

Mmmmonday. Hard to get up, as usual. My nose is sore. I was hijacked at work and ended up farther behind than ever – i guess i’m demonstrating my usefulness, but i need to learn to say no. Got home, made dinner, paid bills. Seamus was feeling unwell and computered in bed all eve. Didn’t manage to clear off my desk or email mum or work on tax stuff like i should. Dragged self to bed.

Breakfast with mum’n’linus. Filled the day with some things, like pulling down the total in my inbox, then went to happy hour with the housemates. Saw the pedal potluck convening outside the coop; steev is in town! When they were done potlucking, steev, missy and seth came over and drinky occurred.

woke s. leg early for the pedal and drifted back to sleep. he walked in later because of a flat tire but didn’t come back to bed. i dreamed of plumbing.
breakfasted with crossword and my sweet at the shed.

put one of the pomegranates in the ground. snagged a bookshelf (our house is turvy) and painted it. catalogued books with wine until s found it time to retire.

because i was not getting it together and just writing the stupid pages, i ended up thinking about the birdcage all fricking day. that was lousy. also, i got snagged by save the children.

at least we watched dr. strangelove in class.

in the morning there was some recognition that excess had occurred. fortunately i was not hung over (but crampy instead). we ended up at muddy’s for a long breakfast wait.

later in the day i read taming of the shrew – a nasty little play – with sweet boy from italian and his mother, mother’s friend, and a girl from italian. that also was a lovely little event.

hootenanny day. spent most of it in preparation; cleaning, preparing the yard, printing and stapling the books. got so dusty. seamus was unsure anyone would show but there were thirty people in the yard at one time; we even imported ana oxygen from a nearby party. at midnight, it came inside and continued until we’d all used up our voices.

slept not well. exam was not too bad. e ora ho finito il mio corso d’italiano. got home and entangled in web. picked up veg; shredded dusty weeds in the hot sun. identified trees with martin and jenn. tin shed later, a waiter with an indecipherable attitude in the garden with the spoons and washboard playing.
