Had a good morning at work and then a fantastic afternoon down in London; first, finally meeting a contact I’ve known online for ages at a private club in Covent Garden (awesome martinis!), then finished the day off with a Yahoo-hosted workshop on Fire Eagle.

Tiring, but a really good day.

Fairly average work day; tired from queuing up for GTA IV the night before too, but it was definitely worth it.

Couldn’t sleep until gone 2am this morning, after 2 solid days of digging out all the bushes and shrubs from the back garden.

Suffice it to say: 4hrs sleep after all that does for a particularly focussed Monday make. Felt hellish all day.

Still, going to queue up for GTA 4 tonight, in the glitz and glamour that is the local 24hr Asda store.

Managed to dig/hack/chop almost all the bushes and small trees out of the back border today, before the rain came down (twice).

Also managed to get the incinerator working, which carried on regardless through the second torrential downpour.

Paid a brief visit to Auntie P to show her the photos from the recent holiday, too.

Out in the garden with the kids, bubble machine on, pulling everything out of the back border ready for grassing.

Really shitty crunch day on this project from hell. No real interest or assistance from our partner company on this project any more; they’ve made quite a mess of their code, are more than 3 weeks over schedule and still the site’s riddled with broken links, hard-coded HTML and business logic mangled with the presentation layer.

Still having to juggle two tight-deadline projects at once, which is proving to be stressful. Hate it.

2-hour meeting on what bugs need fixing in this undying project was a surprisingly fun way to end the day though.

Wife has just left for her first Ann Summers party, so going to fill the evening with Xbox Live I think. And maybe have a go at getting Debian or Fedora running via VMware.

Having said many times over in recent weeks, “production is what I’m best at,” I’m overseeing others’ coding two projects today.

Coupled with this on-going tech lurgy I seem to have acquired this week, a badly crashing PC right before lunch almost made my head burst.

Tonnes of snot coming out my dodgier right sinus too. Bastard orifice!

Had to rush home in the middle of a strategy meeting, however, as wife had locked herself and kids out of the house.

‘Meh’ to Mondays. Bit of a lazy one today though, which is agreeable; just flitting from bug to bug, making sure other people are doing what I’ve assigned them to do.

It’s also reassuring to know my family are there to come back to at the end of the day again now.

Had a fantastic day with the wife and the kids; went to a play park on a huge farm, then dinner in a really nice pub near Bristol.

Sinus infection seems to be back again but not too bad.

Wife and I caught up on a double-bill of BSG S4 (E2+3) which was also great, whilst I drank the last of the French cider.

A really nice welcome back for them.

Kids and wife are home safely, after a truly rotten-sounding ferry crossing back. Great to have them here again after rattling around the house alone for almost a week.

First decent night’s sleep for about a week or so, but my omnipresent sinus infection is back again. Thinking I’ll need to go to the doctor, as it’s already particularly unpleasant; streaming constantly and everything smells like rotten meat. :-(

Started on the farm-made cider Katy brought back from France for me though—very agreeable!

Fun, laid-back atmosphere in the office today—even though things are tense. Which is great.

Guild Wars tonight with Thayer, all being well. Great Xbox Live session with Derek and Iain last night; really good laugh.

Didn’t get an awful lot of sleep but actually feel pretty human anyway.

Had a very stressful start to the working day with the merge from hell, owing to a new recruit not following explicit instructions. (I really need to be less anal by now…)

Slept well though and so been feeling pretty good all day. First time I’ve not coughed all day for about a month now too!

Got a good night’s gaming planned for today and tomorrow, then the family are back on Friday night. So things are looking up.

Tough project continues to draw to a close; couple of snotty emails from client, but actually all fine on the phone. Progress continues, via lots of meetings. Missing family, but iglab #3 tonight!

Cough’s still here, but still lessening daily.

Stayed up late playing CoD4 and Carcassonne with Derek, read another chapter of ‘The Golden Compass’, then overslept by almost an hour.

Bit of a coffee kick today, too—discovered the latte attachment for the office coffee machine’s steamer!
